Cubes

Cubes is a unique medium size contemporary modern abstract geometric wood veneer painting object by Dutch visual artist Hanneke Rijks. This one of a kind object is made of a plywood background with a carefully constructed geometric pattern on it that has been created using four different veneers from cherry wood, birch wood, oak wood and plywood. The surface is finished with a minimum of three layers of a water based acrylic lacquer bringing out the natural colour of the wood whilst protecting it from dirt and moisture. The back of this object has a metal reinforcement and provides a regular wire hanging system. Looking at this work will reveal various geometric compositions that have a three-dimensional character despite being fully two-dimensional.
