There is everything and nothing is a rare, one-of-a-kind contemporary modern studio-blown glass object by Australian artist Hilary Crawford. This work is part of the “Chasing Mirages” series, which is inspired by a lengthy stay in the Australian Outback. The base of this work consists of almost graphically designed murrine depicting different elements in the landscape. More specific in this work there are puddles (black brown patterns), water holes (black blue random patterns), sand dunes (red strips) and an occasional gold nugget (golden brown random pattern). The end result is an oddly captured glass image of the vast and bizarre landscape that, due to the semi-transparent finish of this work, establishes a relationship with the hazy and distorted image of mirages occurring in the desert.
